Torreón is a city in the north of the country in the state of Coahuila, which together with the neighboring cities of Gómez Palacio, Ciudad Lerdo (Durango), and Matamoros (Coahuila) form the Comarca Lagunera (The Lagoon), Mexico's ninth largest urban area.
The city has a population of 608,836 inhabitants (INEGI 2010).
It is one of the youngest cities in Mexico, founded in 1907.
