Mexico has everything you need to become key provider of information technology (IT) market in the world. The advantages that the country offered have allowed the value of the service Information Technology market (including business process outsourcing or BPOs, for its acronym in English) has reached 4 200 million in 2008, while software market totaled 2 000 400 million dollars in the same period, according to Business Monitor.

Skilled labor

According to MexicoIT estimates, in our country there are almost 600 thousand professionals in the IT industry, including approximately 400 000 professionals specializing in software. In addition, each year 65 000 new professionals graduate specialized in the sector.

The Ministry of Economy announced MEXICO FIRST initiative, which seeks to develop enough skilled human capital in the IT sector in the country. This program will invest $ 40 million over the next five years to certify approximately 12 000 people a year.

Currently there are 121 universities linked with Prosoft the support of the government program.

Clusters and technology parks

  • The Academy, together with the private sector and government, has coordinated efforts to the development of 24 science parks throughout the country.
  • In Mexico there are 23 clusters of CTs distributed in 20 states. Over 60 percent of states have IT productive capacity.
  • Mexico's large size allows multiple cities becoming providing services centers, which gives Mexico an advantage over other countries that depend on the availability of labor force concentrated in one city.

The market for IT services and software in the country has made steady growth in recent years. Business Monitor estimates that the market sector reach 10 000 U.S. $ 195 million in 2013.

Export

A.T. Kearney estimated that exports of IT services in Mexico were valued at 3, 164 billion dollars during 2008, representing an annual growth of 26 percent.

Prospects

The growth of our country in the coming years is promising: Business Monitor estimates that the market for IT and BPO services will grow 10 percent annually in 2009-2013. While the software market in Mexico will grow 9 percent annually over the same period.

  • Infosys

    Headquartered in India, Infosys established its first Latin American operations center in Monterrey, Mexico, is one of the largest IT and BPO services. Opened in February 2008, this center will provide nearshore services for the United States, Latin America and Europe. Infosys expects that in Monterrey facility will employ more than 1,000 professionals from the third year of operations.

  • Neoris

    A subsidiary of Cemex, the largest firm of supply building materials in the world, is the company Neoris at IT and systems integration is the largest in Mexico and second largest in Latin America. In 2008, Neoris was ranked as one of the top 10 IT service providers with better performance in the top 100 Global Services. The firm is present in nine Latin American countries, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
